The detailed selection procedure has been mentioned in the official notification of HPPSC HPAS Recruitment 2026. But we are giving you here the short summary of the selection procedure. The candidates are advised to refer to official notification for selection procedure.
Selection Procedure:
- Stage 1 – Screening/Preliminary Examination: Consists of two objective type papers (MCQ) of 200 marks each – Paper-I: General Studies and Paper-II: Aptitude Test (qualifying, minimum 33%). Negative marking applies (1/3 deduction for wrong answers). Duration: 2 hours each paper. Marks of Preliminary Exam are not counted for final merit.
- Stage 2 – Main Examination: Includes compulsory papers (English, Hindi, Essay, General Studies-I, II, III) and one optional subject paper (Paper-VII & VIII). Candidates must score at least 40% in each of English and Hindi papers and 45% in aggregate (excluding English & Hindi) to qualify. Total candidates called for Personality Test shall not exceed 3 times the number of vacancies.
- Stage 3 – Personality Test/Interview: Conducted by the Commission to assess personal suitability, mental calibre, intellectual qualities, social traits, and interest in current affairs including knowledge of customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh. Final merit is determined on the basis of marks in Main Examination (written) and Personality Test combined.
