JKSET / LASET 2026 – J&K State Eligibility Test for Assistant Professor (Advt No. KU/JKSET-LASET/01/2026)
J&K State Eligibility Test Agency, University of Kashmir has published notification Advt No. KU/JKSET-LASET/01/2026 for the conduct of the Jammu & Kashmir State Eligibility Test (JKSET) 2026 and Ladakh State Eligibility Test (LASET) 2026. Candidates who qualify JKSET/LASET-2026 will become eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor in universities and colleges of UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh, and will also be eligible for admission to Ph.D. The examination will be conducted on 25th October 2026 (Sunday) in 41 subjects at three main centers: Kashmir, Jammu, and Ladakh.

Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: Master's Degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (without rounding off) from a UGC-recognized University/Institution.
- Relaxation: OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / SC / ST / PwD / Third Gender candidates require at least 50% marks.
- Provisional Admission: Candidates appearing in the qualifying Master's Degree examination may apply provisionally with a Bonafide Certificate. They must complete PG Degree with prescribed marks within two years from the JKSET/LASET result declaration.
- Ph.D. Relaxation: Candidates with Ph.D. whose Master's level examination was completed on or before 19 September 1991 are entitled to 5% relaxation (55% to 50%).
- Age Limit: No upper age limit prescribed.
Exam Pattern
The test consists of two papers:

- Visually Impaired (VI) candidates: Compensatory time of 20 additional minutes in Paper-I and 40 additional minutes in Paper-II.
- Scribe Facility: Candidates with benchmark disabilities unable to write independently may avail scribe and compensatory time with prior written request at least one week before examination.
- The examination is conducted in 41 subjects including General Paper, Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Languages and more.

Examination fee once paid shall neither be refunded nor adjusted under any circumstances. Fee to be paid exclusively through the online payment gateway integrated with the Online Application Portal.

Requests for change of Examination Centre after submission of the application form shall not be entertained.
Reservation Policy
Reservation is governed by S.O. 176 dated 15.03.2024 (UT of J&K for JKSET) and S.O. 77 dated 27.06.2025 (UT of Ladakh for LASET). Candidates claiming reservation under other States/UTs shall be considered under Open/Unreserved Category.
How to Apply
- Visit the official website: https://set.uok.edu.in or https://www.kashmiruniversity.net.
- Register by providing Username, Mobile Number (preferably WhatsApp Number), Email Address and Password.
- Login and fill in all required particulars in the online application form including Personal Details, Academic Qualifications, Examination Centre Preference(s), and Subject for JKSET/LASET.
- Upload required documents: recent passport-size photograph (JPG/JPEG), scanned signature (JPG/JPEG), valid Reserved Category Certificate (if applicable), Domicile Certificate, and Bonafide Certificate (if pursuing Masters).
- Pay the prescribed non-refundable examination fee exclusively through the online payment gateway integrated with the Online Application Portal.
- Download and retain the fee receipt, application form, and transaction reference number for future reference.
- Ensure Application Status shows 'Fee Received' after 3 days of payment.
Certificate & Verification
- Candidates qualifying JKSET/LASET-2026 will be issued the JKSET/LASET Eligibility Certificate.
- Qualified candidates will be required to submit documents for physical verification as per the schedule notified separately by the University.
- Issuance of the eligibility certificate shall be subject to successful verification of eligibility, educational qualifications, reservation status, and other relevant documents.
- Candidates are not required to submit hard copies before the examination. Only qualified candidates will be called for document verification.
