Overview

High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi (Advertisement No. 01/Recruitment Cell/2026, dated 05.09.2026) invites online applications (by e-mail) from eligible candidates for engagement of Law Researchers / Research Associates on contractual basis for working with Hon’ble Judges of the High Court.

Vacancy Details

Category-wise vacancy breakup (UR/EWS/OBC/SC/ST) has not been separately notified in the advertisement; reservation & age relaxation will apply as per Government/High Court rules applicable to such contractual engagement.

Eligibility Criteria

(i) Age

Not less than 21 years and not more than 28 years as on the date of advertisement (05.09.2026).

(ii) Educational Qualification

• Fresh Law Graduate / Post-Graduate from a University/College recognised by the Bar Council of India, OR
• Students studying in the 5th year of a 5-year Law course or Final year of a 3-year Law course (final selection subject to passing the final-year LL.B. examination before engagement).
• Candidate must have passed all examinations in the first attempt with at least 60% aggregate marks.
• Computer familiarity gets preference in selection.

(iii) Recommendation

• Practising Lawyers: candidature must be recommended by a designated Senior Advocate.
• Non-Lawyer applicants: recommended by the Head of the last Law School/ College/ University attended.

(iv) Not Eligible

• Candidates pursuing a Post-Graduate degree in Law or any other degree/programme requiring compulsory attendance.

Emoluments & Terms

• Consolidated honorarium/stipend of Rs. 40,000/- per month (or higher as prescribed by the State Government from time to time).
• No other allowance/remuneration; not treated as permanent/regular employee of the High Court or State Government.
• Bar to practice during engagement; cannot appear before the attached Hon’ble Judge for 1 year after termination; cannot appear in cases handled by the attached Judge.
• Strict confidentiality obligations (IPC & Official Secrets Act, 1923 apply).
• Engagement can be terminated with one month notice or salary in lieu thereof.
• Certificate issued by the Registrar General on successful completion (Schedule-II); no certificate if engagement ends prematurely.
• Undertaking (Schedule-I) submitted to the Registrar General before joining.

Selection Procedure

• Selection based on merit and interview; selection by Hon’ble the Chief Justice / Committee appointed by him.
• A select list and waiting list shall be maintained; waiting-list candidates engaged if any selected candidate is terminated.
• Shortlisted candidates called for interview via e-mail; schedule/venue announced on the High Court website.

2. Submit scanned copy of the filled application form along with all enclosures in a single PDF file (not exceeding 10 MB) by e-mail to rgjhc.jhr@gmail.com between 07.09.2026 to 28.09.2026 only.
3. No advance copy accepted; no printout/ postal submission required (keep a printout of the filled form with you).

Important Points

• Candidates must have sound health, good moral character, and must not be involved/related to any criminal case or offence involving moral turpitude.
• Name, DOB & father’s name must be written strictly as per Matriculation/10th certificate.
• No TA/DA for attending interview; no correspondence/representation during the process.
