Jharkhand Griha Raksha Vahini (JGRV), Deoghar has released Advertisement No. 01/2026 for recruitment of 772 Home Guard (Grih Rakshak) posts - 635 Rural + 137 Urban. Online applications will be accepted from 11.10.2026 to 26.10.2026 up to 5:00 PM at recruitment.jharkhand.gov.in. Home Guard enrolment is a voluntary service; enrolled members receive a duty allowance at government-prescribed rates for the days they are deployed on duty, with no fixed monthly salary.

Vacancy Details

Vacancies are provisional and may be revised (increased, decreased or modified) without prior notice.

(a) Rural Home Guard (Block-wise)

(b) Urban Home Guard

Reservation: 50% of posts in both Rural and Urban categories are earmarked for women. In the Urban category, 50% of vacancies are earmarked for technically skilled candidates. Of the posts earmarked for women, 5% are reserved for eligible divorced, deserted or widowed women candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

Technical Eligibility (Urban Technical posts only): candidates must be skilled in a technical field and either employed in a related office or self-employed with relevant technical knowledge. Recognised technical categories include doctor, engineer, advocate, lecturer/professor, nurse, computer operator, typist, licensed driver (HMV/LMV), cook, carpenter, cobbler, washerman, barber, electrician, gardener, plumber and similar trades. A technical proficiency certificate issued by the competent authority is required.

Application Fee

Rs. 100 (one hundred rupees only), payable online through the payment gateway on the official website at the time of submission. The application is considered final only after the fee is successfully paid.

Salary / Allowance

This is a voluntary enrolment and not a salaried government post. There is no fixed monthly salary. Enrolled Home Guards receive a duty allowance at rates fixed by the government, paid only for the days actually deployed on duty.

Selection Process

Selection is conducted as per Home Department, Government of Jharkhand notification No. 5442 dated 20.10.2014 through the following stages:

• Physical Efficiency Test (PET): 1-mile race, high jump, long jump and shot put with marks on a sliding scale (separate standards for Rural/Non-Technical Urban and Technically skilled Urban candidates, and for male and female candidates).
• Hindi Writing Ability Test: qualifying in nature (100 marks; qualifying 30). Rural candidates tested at 7th-class level; Urban candidates at 10th-class level.
• Technical Skill Test: only for technically skilled Urban candidates (100 marks; qualifying 30).
• Merit List, Document Verification, Medical Examination & Police Verification: selection against available vacancies.
• Basic Training & Enrolment: selected candidates complete basic Home Guard training on the orders of JGRV Headquarters, Ranchi before formal enrolment.

Bonus marks for sports achievers: National level 1st/2nd/3rd = 6/4/2 marks; State level = 3/2/1 marks. Government servants may be enrolled as Urban Home Guards up to 10% of total Urban vacancies (marks based on educational qualification: Postgraduate 10, Graduate 8, Intermediate 6, Matric 4).

• Fill personal, educational and identity details completely; upload recent photograph and signature.
• Provide one identity document - Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Driving Licence or PAN Card (Aadhaar preferred).
• Pay the application fee of Rs. 100 online and submit before 26.10.2026 up to 5:00 PM.

Only one application per candidate is accepted and a candidate may apply from only one block or urban area. All certificates submitted must be issued before the date of application and must be self-attested.
