Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar – Research Associate (DAE-RRC)

The Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous research institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, invites applications from eligible and motivated candidates for one Research Associate position under the DAE Raja Ramanna Chair (DAE-RRC). Reference IoP/DAE RRC/RA/MKB/1 dated 26.10.2026.

The candidate will work on the project titled “Refurbishment and deployment of high voltage system, operation and maintenance of various power supplies and control-interlock-protection system, for performance enhancement of 3 MV Tandem Pelletron Accelerator with enhanced beam quality, operational uptime and reliability” under the supervision of Dr Manmath Kumar Badapanda, DAE-RRC. The selected candidate will participate in R&D activities, preparation of scientific reports, standard operating procedures for the operation of the HV system, troubleshooting manuals and safety guidelines for the accelerator at IOP, Bhubaneswar.

Essential Qualifications

• B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering / Electronics and related fields with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognised university/institution, with two years’ experience in R&D in industrial and academic institutions or R&D organisations;

or

• M.Tech. in Power Electronics, Control System, Instrumentation and related field in Electrical Engineering / Electronics with a minimum of 65% marks or equivalent CGPA from IIT or NIT or a recognised university.

• B.E. / B.Tech. with four years’ experience, or M.Tech. with two years’ experience, or a Doctoral degree in Engineering or Technology in the above-mentioned fields can also be considered.

Preference

• Candidates with experience in regulated DC power supplies, power electronics, control-interlock-protection systems, power semiconductor devices and their drive circuits, transistors and OPAMPs, etc.
• A valid GATE score is desirable for B.E./B.Tech. candidates applying on the basis of qualification only.

Fellowship

Fellowship is otherwise as per IoP/DAE rules.

Tenure

• The appointment will be for two years, with performance evaluation at the end of each year and with the possibility of further extension till the tenure of the DAE-RRC of Dr Manmath Kumar Badapanda.
