The Pr. CCIT, West Bengal & Sikkim invites applications from meritorious sportspersons for appointment as Tax Assistants (TA) and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) under the sports quota (DOPT OM dated 04.03.2024).

One candidate may apply for TA, MTS or both in a single application with order of preference; without a preference the candidate is considered for TA first, then MTS. Age relaxation of 5 years for UR/OBC and 10 years for SC/ST sportspersons (Annexure-C certificate required). Only Indian citizens need apply.

Sports eligibility (achievements between 01.01.2022 and 30.06.2026)

• Represented a State or the Country in National / International competition; medal winners in Junior National Championships; medal winners in Khelo India Youth Games (above 18 years), Khelo India Winter Games, Khelo India Para Games, Khelo India University Games; medal winners in SGFI School Games — in the sports listed below.
• Chess: Grand Master / International Master title (open category), Chess Olympiad; National Open treated as National Championship; National Team Championship medals also counted.
• Represented a University in Inter-University tournaments (AIU / Inter-University Sports Board).
• Represented a State School team in AISGF National School Games.
• Certificates must come from the prescribed authorities in Forms 1–5 (National Federation secretary, State association, University sports head, State school-sports director, SAI officer for Khelo India).
• Candidates must be clear in WADA / NADA doping tests and free of federation bans; ongoing matters must be disclosed (Annexure-B).

Sport-wise vacancies (men / women)

• Athletics 18 (100m 2/2, 200m 2/1, 400m –/1, 800m –/1, 100mH –/1, 110mH 1/–, 400mH 1/1, long jump 1/1, javelin 1/1).
• Football 9 (goalkeeper 2, side back 2, mid-fielder 2, winger 1, striker 2 — men).
• Cricket 6 (batter 2, medium pacer 2, all-rounder 1, WK batter 1 — men); Kabaddi 6 (raider 2, left cover 2, left corner 2 — men).
• Basketball 5, Swimming 5, Volleyball 5; Table Tennis 4 (2/2); Carrom 4 (2/2); Body Building 4; Badminton 4 (2/2).
• Bridge 2, Chess 2 (1/1), Archery 2 (1/1), Karate 2 (1/1), Lawn Tennis 2, Para Athletics 2 (1/1).
• Unfilled sport vacancies may be re-allotted to other sports by the Department.

Selection

• Scrutiny and shortlisting on nationality, age, qualification and best performances from 01.01.2022 to 30.06.2026.
• Document verification (originals; NOC for the employed) and Ground / Field Proficiency Test.
• TA candidates must also qualify the Data Entry Skill Test at 8,000 key depressions per hour.
• Final merit from best performances plus proficiency-test marks; published tie-break rules apply.

• Send the Annexure-A application with gazetted-attested photocopies (ID, birth, education, caste, sports, Annexures B/C/D) by Ordinary / Speed / Registered Post or Courier to the Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Headquarters (Personnel & Establishment), 1st Floor, Room No. 14, Aayakar Bhawan, P-7 Chowringhee Square, Kolkata – 700 069, to reach on or before 30.09.2026. Physical submission is not compulsory.
• Superscribe the envelope: “APPLICATION FOR THE POST(S) OF ___ FOR RECRUITMENT OF MERITORIOUS SPORTS PERSONS IN INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT, WEST BENGAL & SIKKIM”.
• Also fill the additional Google Form for faster screening — the physical application alone decides eligibility.
• No application fee is prescribed. No TA/DA; medical fitness before appointment; liability to serve anywhere in the region.
