The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Delhi (Income Tax Department, Delhi Region) has released the Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 notification (F.No. P-342/Pr.CCIT/Sports Quota Recruitment/2026-27/10703 dated 01.10.2026) inviting online applications from meritorious and eligible sportspersons for recruitment to the posts of Tax Assistant (Pay Level-4), Stenographer Grade-II (Pay Level-4) and Multi-Tasking Staff (Pay Level-1) against the Sports Quota in the Income Tax Department, Delhi Region. A total of 119 vacancies (67 Men + 52 Women) are advertised across 26 games/sports disciplines. Note: The Income Tax Department, Delhi has not prescribed any application fee for the Sports Quota Recruitment 2026. Candidates are advised to beware of agents/cheats who demand money on the pretext of recruitment — applications are accepted only through the online portal at www.incometaxdelhi.gov.in.

Vacancy Details (Post-wise)

Note: Game-wise bifurcation of vacancies is given in the next table. The posts are temporary in nature but likely to be permanent. The probation period shall be two years, in accordance with the prevailing Recruitment Rules. The number of vacancies is tentative and subject to variation. Candidates shall apply for one or more posts, provided they fulfill all the eligibility criteria specified for the concerned post in the notification.

Game-wise Vacancy Distribution

Note: The vacancies indicated against the Games/Sports are tentative and subject to variation depending upon administrative requirements, availability of eligible candidates and other relevant factors. If eligible candidates are not available, or are available in numbers less than the vacancies tentatively indicated, in any particular Game/Sport, the unfilled vacancies may be reallocated to other Games/Sports as per the decision of the Competent Authority.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit (as on 31.08.2026):

Age Relaxation: As per Government of India instructions for meritorious sportspersons, relaxation of upper age limit up to a maximum of 5 years (10 years in case of SC/ST candidates) may be allowed. This relaxation is admissible only to those who satisfy all other eligibility conditions and furnish the certificate in the prescribed form from the prescribed authority. Cut-off date for eligibility of age and education is 31.08.2026.

Educational Qualification

Sports Eligibility (Order of Preference)

Appointment of sportspersons shall be made by taking into account their sporting achievements in competitions held between 01.01.2020 and 15.10.2026 in the games mentioned above, consistency of performance, age and educational qualifications. Participation and performance in the following categories of sporting events shall be considered in the following order of preference:

1. Candidates who have represented the country in an International Competition with the clearance of the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in any of the games/sports for vacancies mentioned in the notification.
2. Candidates who have represented a State/UT in the Senior or Junior level National Championships organized by National Sports Federations recognized by Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports or National Games organized by Indian Olympic Association and have won medals or positions up to 3rd place in any of the games/sports for vacancies. Between Senior and Junior participants, preference shall be given to those who won medals in Senior National Championship.
3. Candidates who have represented a University in an Inter-University competition conducted by Association of Indian Universities / Inter University Sports Board or Khelo India University Games conducted with authorization of Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and have won medals or positions up to 3rd place in finals.
4. Candidates who have represented a State/UT in Khelo India Youth Games (age category above 18 years) or Khelo India Winter Games or Khelo India Para Games conducted with authorization of Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and have won medals or positions up to 3rd place in finals.
5. Candidates who have represented the State Schools in the National sports/games for Schools conducted by the All-India School Games Federation and have won medals or positions up to 3rd place.
6. Candidates who represented a State/Union Territory/University/State Schools Teams at the level mentioned in categories (ii) to (v) but could not win a medal or position.

In case of any doubt about the status of a tournament, the matter will be decided in consultation with the Department of Personnel & Training and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Only certificates awarded by the authorities mentioned in the notification (Secretary of National Federation / State Association, Dean of Sports of University, Director/Additional/Joint/Deputy Director of DPI, designated SAI officer for Khelo India events) will be accepted as evidence, in the prescribed formats (Annexure-II Forms 1-5) as per DoPT OM dated 04.03.2024.

2. Carefully read the detailed notification containing eligibility conditions and satisfy yourself that you fulfill all the conditions for the post(s) applied.
3. Read the 'Instructions for Candidates' available on the online application portal.
4. Fill in the online application form with correct details and indicate the preference of the post(s).
5. Before final submission, check through Preview/Print option that all fields are filled correctly.
6. Upload the required documents (proof of date of birth, Aadhar card, educational marksheets/certificates, sports achievement certificates, caste certificate if applicable, NOC if employed in Government service).
7. Submit the online application complete in all respects before the closing date 10.11.2026 up to 23:59 Hrs. No physical copy of the application will be accepted.

1. Scanned copy of certificate for proof of Date of Birth (Standard 10th/Matriculation Certificate/Equivalent Educational Certificate indicating date of birth)
2. Scanned copy of Aadhar Card
3. Scanned copy of prescribed Essential Minimum Qualification Marksheet/Certificate or its equivalent as prescribed in the notification
4. Copies of Certificates in proof of Sports achievements issued by the concerned Federations/Associations/Boards (in the prescribed formats)
5. Copy of community certificate in the prescribed format for recruitment in Central Government services, issued by the competent authority in case of SC/ST for availing relaxation as admissible
6. Copy of No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the employer, in case the candidate is serving in any Central/State Government Department, Autonomous Body, PSU, Semi-Government Organization or any other Government/Quasi-Government Institution

Candidates seeking relaxation benefits must ensure they are entitled to such relaxation as per the notification and possess original certificates in the prescribed format issued by the competent authority as on 31.08.2026. Caste certificates must be uploaded in the formats given in Annexure-III, and certificates in any other format will not be accepted.
