Qualifications and Relevant Experience:

Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following: a. Scholars who are selected through NationalEligibility Tests - CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE. b. The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc. Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a DST-funded research project Applications are invited from motivated, enthusiastic, and bright Indian nationals for the following assignment in a purely time bound DST (Govt. of India) sponsored research project titled Developing an inexpensive low-carbon micro-alloyed dual-phase steel as a unique and singular structural steel for the entire car body at the Light Metals and Alloys (LMA) research group in Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. The position is initially available for one year and will be extended to a second year based on the candidates performance. Upon successful completion of two years, the JRF will be converted to an SRF in the 3rd year, with a salary of Rs. 42,000 + 10% HRA per month. Position: One (01 no.) Qualification: ME/M.Tech/MS or equivalent degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, Materials Engineering (GATE qualification is not mandatory). Or BE/B.Tech/BS or equivalent 4-year degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, Materials Engineering with GATE score. Degree from IITs, CFTIs, Institutes whose current overall NIRF ≤ 25, with at least 8.0 CGPA GATE qualification not mandatory. A minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in the qualifying exam. Job description: The project involves carrying out exciting, innovative, cutting-edge research on advanced thermomechanical treatments, resistance spot welding (RSW), and friction stir welding (FSW) of low-carbon micro-alloyed dual-phase steel. Characterization such as XRD, XRD texture goniometer, FESEM, EBSD, TEM, APT, etc. Mechanical property determination via tensile, fatigue, fracture toughness, FCGR, impact toughness, etc. The candidate is expected to join PhD in the project mode. All facilities are available in the lab, department, and institute. The scientific aspect of this project is to establish the processingmicrostructuretextureproperty relationships.
