Essential qualifications / experience
- PhD in Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology or a closely related field. Candidates who have submitted their doctoral thesis may apply, subject to Institute rules.
- Demonstrated research experience in at least two of: (1) AI/ML in hydrology; (2) physics-based or physics-guided data-driven modelling; (3) remote sensing, GIS and surveying for natural disasters; (4) mathematical/hydrological modelling of water systems.
- Experience with numerical modelling and scientific programming; peer-reviewed publications; strong communication skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
- Minimum 60% or equivalent grade from graduation onwards and 55% or equivalent grade in class 10th and 12th.
Desirable qualifications / experience
- Hands-on experience implementing AI/ML algorithms for hydrological and climate-related applications.
- Hands-on experience with QGIS, Google Earth Engine and HEC-RAS 2D for urban, riverine or dam-break flood modelling.
- Strong proficiency in Matlab/Python, GIS, remote sensing and geospatial data analysis; strong interest in Digital Twin applications.
Job description / responsibilities
- Develop hydrological and hydrodynamic models for flood applications with AI/ML and data-driven methods.
- Process satellite and sensor observations; link regional climate projections to water management systems.
