Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, Research & Development Office, invites applications for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under the project “Effects of Environment on Gravitational Wave: Search for New Physics” in the Department of Physics.

- Consolidated monthly remuneration including HRA – Rs.45,880/-
- House Rent Allowance – Rs.8,880/- per month
- Duration – 6 months or till 06.09.2027, whichever is earlier. Funding ends on 6th September 2027 and no further extension will be possible after that.
Essential qualification
- M.Sc. in a relevant area of Physics, along with the following ANRF requirement:
- (a) Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship and GATE; or
(b) The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc. - Minimum 60% or equivalent grade from graduation onwards and 55% or equivalent grade in class 10th and 12th.
Desirable
- A consistently strong academic record throughout the B.Sc. and M.Sc. programmes is expected.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of both general relativity and quantum field theory.
- Candidates who have undertaken projects involving advanced methods in quantum field theory are particularly encouraged to apply.
Job description
The research interests of the group span classical and quantum gravity, with particular emphasis on the application of quantum field theory techniques to physics and fundamental aspects of quantum gravity. The selected candidate will be expected to use tools from quantum field theory to investigate problems in gravitational physics.
