IIT Ropar Eligibility Criteria 2026
Eligibility
- Master’s degree or equivalent in any discipline with at least 55% marks or an equivalent Grade B in the UGC seven-point scale and a consistently good academic record.
- Experience (any one): at least 15 years as Assistant Professor in Academic Pay Level 11 and above, or 8 years in Academic Pay Level 12 and above including as Associate Professor, with experience in educational administration; or comparable experience in research establishments and/or other institutions of higher education; or 15 years of administrative experience of which 8 years as Deputy Registrar or equivalent in Pay Level 12 and above.
- Experience in handling computerised administration and financial matters.
- Desirable: a degree in Law/Management/Engineering; experience in educational administration, financial and personnel management, and capacity to lead administration in an IIT or a residential educational institute of its stature.
- Age limit: 57 years. The post is open to direct recruitment, deputation/transfer on deputation, or contract/tenure basis for up to five years or till attaining 62 years, whichever is earlier.

Indian Institute of Technology Ropar invites applications from eligible candidates for the post of Registrar on direct recruitment, which may also be filled on deputation/transfer on deputation or on contract/tenure basis for a tenure of up to five years or till attaining the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier.

Deputation / Contract Route
Officers under the Central/State Governments, universities, recognised research institutes or institutes of national importance holding an analogous post, or with at least three years of regular service in posts with Pay Level 13 or equivalent, and possessing the educational qualification and experience prescribed above, may also apply. The initial period of deputation is one year, extendable as per rules.
