IISER Thiruvananthapuram Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 (ANRF Project - Diophantine Approximation with Prime Restriction) - 01 Post

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER TVM), Office of the Dean, Research Development and Consultancies, invites applications for the following position on contract basis under an externally funded project.

• Post: Junior Research Fellow — 01 post
• Project title: Diophantine approximation with prime restriction  |  Funding agency: ANRF
• Fellowship amount: Rs 37,000 + HRA for the 1st 2 years and Rs 42,000 + HRA for the 3rd year
• Tenure: 1 year, extendable to two or more depending on the candidate’s performance  |  Age: below 25 years
• Last date: 30 November 2026

Minimum Educational Qualification (as prescribed by the funding agency)

• First class master’s degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks (equivalently CGPA) from a recognised university or institute, AND either one of the following:
• Scholars who are selected through NET including lectureship or selected through GATE
• Scholars selected through national level examinations conducted by Central Government departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST, DAE, IIT, IISER and NISER

Desirable Qualification

• Candidates with background in algebraic number theory will be preferred

General Information

• Merely fulfilment of the minimum criteria does not entitle a candidate to be shortlisted; the prescribed qualifications are the bare minimum
• Appointment is governed by the terms and conditions laid down by the funding agency for the specific project and post; the qualifying degree must be from a recognised University/Institution
• Shortlisting is done by a Selection Committee if the number of applications received is high, taking into consideration qualifications and experience over and above the minimum prescribed
• No Travelling Allowance or Dearness Allowance will be paid for appearing for the interview
• Selected candidates are required to join duty at the earliest on receipt of the offer letter
• Appointment is purely temporary and will terminate automatically on closure of the research project, without any further notice or compensation, and confers no right of absorption
