IISER Bhopal Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal) invites applications from highly motivated and eligible candidates for the position of Project Associate-I in the Department of Data Science and Engineering.

The selected candidate will work full-time on an ANRF-funded research project focused on developing advanced artificial intelligence solutions for detecting and combating deepfake content.

Educational Qualifications

Applicants should possess any one of the following qualifications from a recognised university or institution:

• Four-year bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences

• Master’s degree in Natural Sciences

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology

Candidates should also have qualified through:

• CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship or Assistant Professorship

• GATE

• Another eligible national-level examination conducted by central government departments, agencies or recognised institutions

Required Skills

Candidates should have:

• Good knowledge of Python programming

• Understanding of machine-learning algorithms

• Familiarity with Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras or PyTorch

• Interest in deep learning and artificial intelligence

Knowledge of generative artificial intelligence will be considered an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

• Develop deep-learning and machine-learning models for deepfake detection.

• Work on detecting manipulated audio, images and text.

• Explore generative AI techniques, including vision-language models and large language models.

• Develop AI-based methods to counter deepfake videos, images and textual content.

• Contribute to research experiments, documentation and publication activities.

• Assist in preparing high-quality research papers arising from the project.

Candidates demonstrating exemplary performance may be considered for a PhD opportunity, subject to fulfilling institutional requirements and completing project responsibilities satisfactorily.

Salary

The selected candidate will receive:

• INR 37,000 per month

• 20% HRA, where applicable

The remuneration will be consolidated, with no additional allowances.
