IIIT Bangalore - Physics Laboratory In-charge
IIIT Bangalore invites applications for one position of Physics Laboratory In-charge. The selected candidate will help the Physics faculty conduct laboratory sessions for Integrated M.Tech and B.Tech students. Last date for applications: 20.11.2026.
Job Brief
- Support effective teaching and learning of Physics at the Institute.
- Prepare laboratory materials for both semesters, consulting and planning with laboratory instructors.
- Set up equipment for students and instructors and provide technical assistance during laboratory sessions.
- Maintain the Physics laboratory: advise on procedures, materials and equipment operation, perform cleaning, and carry out or recommend maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure a safe laboratory environment, carry out safety checks before and after use, explain safety procedures and dispose of unsafe equipment in consultation with instructors.
- Manage stock and purchasing: stock control, annual stock-taking, stock book upkeep, sourcing and costing, ordering, expenditure monitoring and assistance with the departmental budget.
- Design and development: construct or modify apparatus, improve existing experiments, design new experiments and suggest new experiments.
- Assist with quizzes and tests associated with the physics curriculum.
Qualification and Skills
- A Master's degree in Physics.
- A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is not expected but is an added qualification.
- Good academic record; previous experience in the stated area is highly preferred.
Terms
Joining is immediate. The contract is initially for one year and may be extended on a yearly basis subject to satisfactory evaluation. Pay and perks are commensurate with qualification and experience. The selected candidate, if interested, would be permitted to apply for admission to the Ph.D. programme at the Institute in due course.
