- Master's Degree in Library Science / Information Science / Documentation with CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale or at least 60% marks (or equivalent grade B in the UGC seven-point scale) with a consistently good academic record.
- At least ten years' experience as Deputy Librarian in the library of a technical university, institution of national importance, or any other large technical library, with at least 3 years on a post in PB-4 with GP Rs. 8700 or equivalent; or holding an analogous post.
- Evidence of innovative library service and commitment to computerization of the library. Desirable: PhD in a discipline directly relevant to Library/Information Science.
- Age limit: not exceeding 56 years as on the closing date. Relaxation as per Central Government rules.
