Essential Qualification
- MS/MD (Medicine) or equivalent as per NMC/DCI norms; MBBS + MS/MD/DNB eligibility basis for marking.
- Upper age limit: 45 years as on 07th October 2026 (relaxation as per State Govt. rules — 5 years SC/ST, 3 years EBC/BC, 3 years for all categories of female candidates).
- Pay scale: as per Institute rules.
How to Apply
- Appeared for the walk-in interview with the filled application form (Performa downloadable from www.igims.org) with the requisite fee and self-attested copies of all certificates — age, qualification, reservation, caste etc. — and produce all original certificates before the Interview Board.
- Application fee (non-refundable): Rs. 1000/- for UR/EWS/BC/EBC and Rs. 250/- for SC/ST candidates, payable to the Director, IGIMS, Patna (Demand Draft).
- Candidates employed in Government/Semi-Government service must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer; non-employed candidates must submit a written declaration that they are not in employment and not pursuing any course.
- SC/ST candidates must attach caste certificate with the Creamy-Layer certificate issued by the Circle Officer of the respective district/circle of Bihar.
Marking Scheme (100 marks) & Qualifying Percentile
- MBBS: 10 (–2 per failure); MS/MD/DNB: 10 (–5 per failure); Additional qualification: 10; Publications: 10 (6 PubMed + 4 other); Poster/Presentation: 10; Academic award: 10; Specialized training: 10; Project (extra/intramural): 10; Subject knowledge: 20.
- Minimum qualifying percentile: UR 50th; BC/EBC/EWS 45th; SC/ST 40th. Minimum qualification does not by itself entitle a candidate to interview; the Selection Committee selects on the basis of bio-data and interview.
