Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna-14, an autonomous institute of the Government of Bihar, has released the official notification (Advertisement No. 03/ ORTHO/ 2026 dated 29 July 2026) for appointment to the post of Senior Resident on ad-hoc basis in the Department of Orthopaedics under the 89-day Senior Residency Programme, through walk-in interview scheduled on 31 August 2026.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Medical qualification as included in Schedule I & II of the NMC Act.
- NMC recognized PG qualification of MS / DNB (Orthopaedics).
- Must be registered with the Central / State Medical Council.
- Age Limit: Maximum 45 years as on 31/08/2026 (Relaxation: 05 years for SC/ST, 03 years for EBC/BC and 03 years for all categories of Female candidates, as per State Govt. rules).

Salary & Allowances:
- Pay + NPA plus other allowances as per rule.
- Note: Post is non-practicing; private practice of any kind is strictly prohibited.

Application Fee:
- Rs. 1,000/- (UR/EWS/BC) and Rs. 250/- (SC/ST/EBC), Non-Refundable.
- Payable to The Director, IGIMS, Patna in the form of Demand Draft. No other mode of payment (Cash, Cheque, MO, Pay Order, etc.) is accepted.

Selection Process:
- Walk-in Interview on 31/08/2026 (Monday) at 11:00 AM.
- Document Verification: 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on the day of interview.
- Marking scheme includes MBBS, MS/DNB, additional qualifications, publications, poster presentation, academic award, specialized training, project work and subject knowledge (total 100 marks).
- Minimum qualifying percentile: UR – 50, BC/EBC/EWS – 45, SC/ST – 40.

- Date: 31 August 2026 (Monday), Interview from 11:00 AM.
- Reporting Time: 09:00 AM onwards; Last Reporting Time: 10:30 AM (latecomers not accepted).
