- Scientist-D (Non-Medical): Masters in Biomedical Sciences subject (or Pharm-D recognised by UGC / PCI); 8 years experience; desirable PhD and R&D experience
- Scientist-C (Medical): MBBS or equivalent, or MPH, or PhD in Biomedical Sciences; 4 years experience; desirable MD / MS
- Scientist-B: MBBS or equivalent; Scientist posts include one B.V.Sc & AH stream with R&D experience
- Relaxations for exceptionally meritorious candidates; qualifying service for essential qualification does not count as experience; selection by computer-based test (MCQs) and / or interview
