IACS Research Associate-I (RA-I) Recruitment 2026 – School of Physical Sciences

Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Jadavpur, Kolkata invites applications through e-mail for the appointment of a Research Associate-I position in the School of Physical Sciences, purely on a temporary basis, to work full time in the research group of Dr. Sumanta Chakraborty.

Quick Overview

Essential Qualifications

• A first or high second class M.Sc. degree in Physics with minimum average of 55% marks in B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. examinations along with a good overall academic record;
• Ph.D. with research experience supported by publications in peer-reviewed journals in the field of gravitational physics with experience in gravitational wave astrophysics.
• Preference will be given to candidates having experience in numerical analysis involving the ringdown spectrum, as well as tidal effects.

Fellowship

A selected candidate holding a Ph.D. degree at the time of joining will receive the fellowship of the RA-I position from the date of joining (Rs. 58,000/- + HRA as per the rules of the Institute).

Tenure of Fellowship

2 years from the date of joining as RA-I, subject to an evaluation after one year and availability of funds.

Age

The upper age limit shall be 35 years as of the last date of application, with usual relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Women/differently abled candidates. Age relaxation may also be given to outstanding candidates or candidates with relevant experience.

4. Self-attested scanned copies of all certificates/credentials must be submitted; originals must be presented for verification at the interview.
5. Deadline: 21 days from the date of publishing of the advertisement.

Interview

Shortlisted candidates will be informed via e-mail about the interview schedule. Interview via video-based facility such as Skype is permissible subject to availability of requisite connections. No TA will be admissible.
