About the Project

The Court and Civil Liberty Project seeks to facilitate free and effective legal representation for undertrial prisoners across Himachal Pradesh. It aims to support eligible prisoners throughout legal proceedings, including appeals, reviews and revisions, wherever required.

The project team will include lawyers, social workers and other professionals who will provide legal, social and psychological assistance to undertrial prisoners. During the first year, the project will cover jails in:

• Model Central Jail, Kanda, Shimla

• Sub-Jail Kaithu, Shimla

Other jails across Himachal Pradesh, including Solan and Kullu, may be covered subsequently.
