GSSSB Municipal Accountant (Class-3) Recruitment 2026 – 82 Posts | Advt No. 450/202627

Gujarat Secondary Service Selection Board (GSSSB), Gandhinagar has invited online applications for recruitment to the post of Municipal Accountant, Class-3 (Common Cadre) in the office of the Commissioner of Municipal Administration under the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department, Government of Gujarat, vide Advertisement No. 450/202627.

Total 82 vacancies will be filled through direct recruitment by competitive examination. Candidates must apply online through the OJAS website.

• Horizontally 08 posts are reserved for Ex-Servicemen.
• No posts are reserved for PWD (Divyangjan) in this advertisement, as the backlog PWD vacancies of this cadre (04) are being filled through a separate Special Recruitment Drive (SRD).
• Reserved posts are only for candidates belonging to reserved categories of the original (main) Gujarat state. Vacancies may vary.

Educational Qualification

• A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Computer Application or Commerce or Science (Mathematics/Statistics) or Arts (Statistics/Economics/Mathematics) obtained from any University/Institution established or incorporated by or under the Central or a State Act in India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government.
• Basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
• Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
• Note: Candidates holding a B.Sc. (CA & IT) or M.Sc. (CA & IT) degree are not considered eligible for this post.
• Candidates who have appeared at the degree examination (result not declared) or intend to appear may be admitted to the Preliminary Examination, but must produce proof of passing before the Main Examination.

Age Limit (as on 21.08.2026)

Candidates should be not less than 20 years and not more than 35 years of age as on 21.08.2026. Upper age limit may be relaxed for candidates already in Gujarat Government service as per rules.

Pay Scale

Initial appointment on Fixed Pay of Rs.49,600/- per month for the first five years. Thereafter, on satisfactory service, regular appointment in the ROP-2016 pay scale of Rs.39,900 – Rs.1,26,600 (Level-7) (subject to SLP Nos. 14124/2012 and 14125/2012 pending before the Hon'ble Supreme Court).

Application Fee

The exam fee is refundable to candidates who appear in the examination. Currently only the Preliminary Examination fee is to be paid. Fee must be paid online (Debit Card / Internet Banking / UPI / Wallet) through OJAS by 23.08.2026 (23:59 hrs).

Selection Process

Selection is a two-stage competitive examination conducted by GSSSB:

• Stage 1 – Preliminary Examination (Objective/MCQ): Screening test of 150 marks (CBRT / OMR mode), 2 hours, General Studies & subject-based questions as per syllabus. Each question carries 1 mark; 0.25 negative marking per wrong answer. Marks of the Preliminary Examination are not counted in the final merit.
• Stage 2 – Main Examination (Descriptive): Two papers of 100 marks each (3 hours each): Paper-1 Gujarati & English Language; Paper-2 Accountancy & Auditing etc. Final selection merit is based on Main Examination marks only.
• Approximately 7 times the advertised vacancies will be shortlisted for the Main Examination.
• Minimum qualifying standard: 40% marks in each paper for all categories.

2. Online application window: 01.08.2026 (14:00 hrs) to 21.08.2026 (23:59 hrs).
3. After confirming the application, pay the examination fee online by 23.08.2026 (23:59 hrs).
4. Keep original certificates (educational qualification, age, school leaving certificate, category SC/ST/SEBC/EWS, PWD, ex-servicemen, etc.) ready while filling the form.
