Office of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) has issued a recruitment notice inviting applications from eligible local residents to be engaged as Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) in Ujjain district. The PLVs play a vital role in extending free legal aid, awareness, and last-mile connectivity to weaker, marginalised, and underprivileged sections of society under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. Interested and eligible candidates must submit their applications in the prescribed format on or before 31 August 2026.
About DLSA Ujjain
The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ujjain functions under the administrative control of the District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA Ujjain, and implements schemes of the Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (MP-SLSA) and the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). It runs Legal Services Clinics, Lok Adalats, and PLV-driven outreach activities across the district.

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be a citizen of India and a permanent local resident of Ujjain district.
- The applicant must have passed at least Matriculation (10th pass) from a recognised board. Graduates and above will be given preference.
- The applicant must be of minimum 21 years of age as on the date of advertisement.
- Eligible categories (as per NALSA guidelines): Teachers (including retired), Retired Government Servants, Senior Citizens, MSW / Social Work students and teachers, Anganwadi Workers, Doctors, Law students & graduates, members of non-political NGOs, SHG / Women's Neighbourhood Group members, Social Workers, ex-servicemen / defence families, or any other person considered suitable by the DLSA.
- Preference: Candidates with valid 4-wheeler driving licence, working knowledge of computers (MS Office), and prior experience in social / community work will be given preference.
- Disqualifications: Persons with criminal antecedents, members of any political party, and persons holding any post in a political outfit are not eligible.
Role and Responsibilities of PLV
- Creating legal awareness among weaker sections, women, children, SC/ST/OBC/Minority communities in Ujjain district.
- Identifying persons in need of legal aid and referring them to DLSA / TLSC / Legal Services Clinics.
- Assisting in the disposal of pending cases through Lok Adalats, mediation camps and pre-litigation counselling.
- Spreading awareness about flagship schemes such as NALSA's Legal Aid, Mediation, Victim Compensation, and POCSO-related help.
- Supporting DLSA during jail visits, legal literacy camps, and Mahakaleshwar-trust related legal awareness drives.
- Helping pilgrims / tourists visiting the famous Mahakaleshwar Temple and other religious sites of Ujjain with legal queries.

Remuneration
PLVs work on a voluntary / honorary basis. They are entitled to receive an honorarium and actual travel allowance as sanctioned by NALSA / MP-SLSA from time to time for specific duties performed. No fixed monthly salary is admissible.
Selection Process
- Scrutiny of applications received within the stipulated time.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for a viva-voce / personal interview before the Selection Committee.
- Final selection list will be published on the official website of Ujjain District Judiciary and on the notice board of the District Court.
How to Apply
- Download / obtain the standard PLV application form from the office of DLSA Ujjain or from the official district judiciary website.
- Fill the form in BLOCK letters, paste two recent passport-size photographs, and attach self-attested copies of:
- Matriculation mark-sheet & certificate (proof of age & qualification)
- Aadhaar Card
- Residence certificate (Domicile of Ujjain)
- Caste / EWS certificate (if applicable)
- Driving licence & computer certificate (if claiming preference)
- Any experience / NGO membership certificates
- Send the sealed envelope superscribed as "Application for Engagement as Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) – DLSA Ujjain" to: The District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, District Court Complex, Ujjain – 456010, Madhya Pradesh.
- Drop the envelope in the designated Drop Box placed at the District Court, Ujjain on or before 31.08.2026 by 5:00 PM.
- Incomplete / late applications will be summarily rejected.
Important Instructions
- Existing PLVs of DLSA Ujjain must apply afresh; re-application does not guarantee re-engagement.
- No TA / DA will be paid for appearing in the viva-voce.
- No separate interview call letter will be issued; candidates must check the website / notice board regularly.
- Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
- The decision of the Selection Committee and Chairman, DLSA Ujjain shall be final and binding.
- Engagement as PLV does not confer any right to regular appointment under DLSA / Government of Madhya Pradesh.
