Central University of Tamil Nadu - Counsellor Recruitment 2026 (2 Posts)
Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN), Thiruvarur invites offline applications from eligible candidates for engagement of two Counsellors on a contract basis for the University's student counselling services, vide Advt. No. CUTN/TE/05/2026 dated 21.10.2026. The engagement is purely temporary, initially for one year and extendable based on performance and university requirements.

- Remuneration: Rs.50,000 per month (consolidated)
- Upper age limit: 40 years (preferably)

Project & Department
The Counsellors will work with students, faculty and staff of the University and will be responsible for:
- Individual one-on-one counselling sessions and group counselling for common student mental health concerns.
- Workshops, seminars and webinars on mental health and psychological well-being.
- Psychometric assessments and clinical case reports.
- Crisis intervention and management of psychiatric emergencies.
- Courses and interactive sessions for Psychology students, and training for student peer mentors and support volunteers.
- Monthly analytical reports and collaboration with faculty, hostel wardens and administrative staff.
Working hours: five days a week on rotational shifts; Saturdays, Sundays and holidays may be working days as per university requirements, with phone availability after duty hours for emergencies.
Eligibility & Qualifications
Essential (any one route):
- Two-year M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an RCI-recognised university/institution; or
- Professional Diploma in Clinical Psychology from an RCI-recognised institution; or
- Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology/Clinical Psychology/Psychology/Applied Psychology with a regular postgraduate degree in Psychology/Counselling Psychology/Clinical Psychology/Applied Psychology; or
- Regular postgraduate qualification in Psychology/Counselling Psychology/Clinical Psychology/Applied Psychology with a regular PG Diploma in Counselling Psychology/Guidance and Counselling.
And for routes (2) to (4): at least one year of relevant counselling experience after the qualifying degree, preferably in a higher educational institution.
And: valid registration with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) or the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) is mandatory.
Desirable: evidence-based individual and group counselling skills, crisis intervention capability, psycho-educational content development, MS Office proficiency, and strong communication in English and Tamil.
Emoluments
Consolidated remuneration of Rs.50,000 per month. The engagement is initially for one year and extendable based on performance and university requirements; it confers no right to permanent appointment.
