Position: Curator (Consultant Grade-2)

No. of Posts: 08 (Eight)

Nature of Engagement: Purely on contract basis

Duration: Initially for six (6) months (extendable), depending upon project requirements and satisfactory performance

Remuneration: Aligned with NITI Aayog "Procedure and Guidelines for Engagement of Consultants/Senior Consultants/Consultants Grade-2/Consultants Grade-1/Young Professionals, 2023" (Office Memorandum No. A-12036/2/2023-Adm.IB dated 07 July 2023). No other allowance, accommodation or benefits shall be admissible.

Essential Qualifications

• Master's Degree in any of the following or allied disciplines from a recognized University: Art History, Architecture, History, Museology, Archaeology, Fine Arts, Design, Heritage Studies, Conservation, Cultural Studies, Management or any other related discipline.

Experience

• 8 years professional experience in one or more of the following: Curation of exhibitions, Museums, Art galleries, Biennales, International cultural festivals, Architecture and design exhibitions, Heritage interpretation, Cultural programming, Exhibition planning and execution, Performing arts.
• Experience of working with Government institutions, museums, cultural organizations or international cultural events will be desirable.

The Selection Committee may relax the educational qualifications in deserving cases where candidates possess exceptional professional achievements and extensive experience in organizing major exhibitions or comparable cultural events.

Scope of Work

• Conceptualization and curation of thematic exhibitions;
• Identification, documentation and selection of artworks, architectural projects and design exhibits;
• Coordination with artists, architects, designers, museums, galleries, institutions and State Governments;
• Preparation of curatorial notes, exhibition texts and interpretative material;
• Coordination of installation, display and exhibition logistics;
• Liaison with national and international participants;
• Any other work assigned in connection with the India Art Architecture and Design Biennale.

Selection Process

Selection shall be made by a duly constituted Selection Committee on the basis of: educational qualifications, relevant professional experience, portfolio of work, interview/presentation (if required).

General Conditions

• Engagement shall be purely contractual and shall not confer any claim for regular appointment.
• The Ministry reserves the right to cancel or modify the advertisement without assigning any reason or prior information.
• The engagement may be terminated by either side by giving one month's notice or payment in lieu thereof.
• The selected candidates shall be governed by the terms and conditions prescribed by the Ministry of Culture.
