CSIR-NEERI Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026 - CO2 Bio-refinery (GAP-3103)

CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur invites applications from eligible and interested candidates for engagement of Project Associate-I on a purely temporary basis under the project To develop a CO2-bio refinery by carbon capture from flue gas through medium large scale microbial biomass production as feedstock for biofuels and value added products (GAP-3103), tenable at CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur. Selection will be through an online interview.

• Post: Project Associate-I - 2 (two); up to 4 anticipated depending on fund availability, with selection from the waiting list
• Emoluments: Rs 31,000 + HRA (NET/GATE qualified) or Rs 25,000 + HRA (others)

Job requirements:

• Knowledge of algal sequestration of CO2.
• Design of photobioreactors.
• Technical report and scientific article writing.
• Knowledge of R-statistics or Python for data analysis.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Essential:

• M.Sc. or Integrated Masters in Environmental Science, Biotechnology or Biochemistry from a recognised university.
• Only candidates who have acquired the essential qualification and whose result has been declared (at least a provisional certificate) are eligible.

Not eligible: result-awaited candidates, final-semester appeared candidates, and candidates who have only submitted a Ph.D. thesis where the minimum essential qualification is mandatory.

Age: upper age limit 35 years, reckoned as on the last date of receipt of applications.

Emoluments

Rs 31,000 per month plus HRA for candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET lectureship or Assistant Professorship, or GATE, or national-level examinations conducted by Central Government departments such as DBT/DST or their agencies; Rs 25,000 per month plus HRA for others who do not fall in that category. HRA is admissible as per applicable rules.

Important Instructions

• The positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project; engagement confers no right, implicit or explicit, to regularisation against any CSIR/CSIR-NEERI post.
• Tenure of project staff who have served CSIR-NEERI or any other CSIR laboratory under contract R&D projects shall not exceed six or seven years as per CSIR OM No. 5-1(342)/2017-PD dated 02.09.2024.
• Experience, where required, is counted from the date after acquiring the minimum educational qualification; dissertation or thesis work done during the academic period is not counted.
• No TA is paid for appearing in the interview.
• Each selected candidate shall sign an undertaking for maintaining confidentiality of project findings and associated intellectual property information.
• Engagement is subject to CSIR guidelines for engagement of project personnel and may be terminated at any time by giving one month notice.
