The Central Silk Technological Research Institute (CSTRI), Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, invites eligible candidates to a walk-in interview on 17 November 2026 at 10:00 AM for one Project Associate under the DST-SHRI project “Exploring Technological Solutions for Conservation and Revival of Ilkal Saree Weaving Heritage in North Karnataka”. (Notification No. CSB/CSTRI/Project Associate/2026-27-ES dated 15.10.2026.)

- Post: Project Associate – 01 (one)
- Fellowship: Rs. 31,000 per month plus 20% HRA (consolidated Rs. 37,200 per month)
- Age: Up to 35 years as on the date of the notification; relaxation of up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC, women and persons with disabilities, and 10 years for ex-servicemen as per rules
- Tenure: Initially up to 31 March 2027, extendable by up to two additional years subject to project requirements, satisfactory performance and applicable rules
- Location: Silk Technical Service Centre, CSB-CSTRI, Sericulture Complex, Rayapur, Dharwad – 580009
Qualification
- Essential: Bachelor's degree in Textile Technology, Textile and Fashion Technology, Fashion Design, Textile Design or a related discipline from a recognised university or institution.
- Desirable: Practical proficiency in photography and videography; hands-on knowledge of graphic design tools such as Canva and Adobe software and video-editing software; ability to conduct field surveys, interact with weavers and artisans and compile data; knowledge of textile weaving processes and traditional design techniques; experience in field-based research, digital documentation or work with artisans.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys and visits, and document the heritage.
- Identify, document and digitise traditional Ilkal saree designs and motifs to develop a digital heritage design library.
- Identify field-level problems and communicate with the weaver community.
- Assist in the technical assessment of existing silk handloom and preparatory processes and support suitable technological upgradation.
- Assist in data analysis, report preparation and other project activities, and travel independently to the project cluster and surrounding villages.

Date and time: 17 November 2026 at 10:00 AM; reporting time 9:30 AM. Venue: Silk Technical Service Centre, CSB-CSTRI, Sericulture Complex, Rayapur, Dharwad – 580009.
Candidates must bring a duly filled application in the proforma available on the CSB/CSTRI website, a passport-size photograph, and originals with attested photocopies of all educational certificates from SSLC onwards. The notice requires a minimum of First Class (60% for General and 55% for SC/ST candidates) in all classes from 10th standard to the highest degree. No admission will be allowed after 12 noon. The post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project; no TA/DA will be paid.
