Quick Overview

Essential Qualification

• Ph.D in the area of Chemistry / Physics / Material Science from a recognised University or equivalent.
• Candidates who have submitted PhD thesis in the above subjects are also eligible; selection in such cases will be subject to the condition that PhD viva voce is done and declared qualified for award of PhD.

Desirable Qualification

• Knowledge of computational methods in solid-state physics and condensed matter physics, electronic structure theory and crystallography;
• Hands-on experience with VASP, Quantum Espresso, and electronic structure calculations at molecular level;
• Experience in AI/ML will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• To perform computational study, analysis and interpretation of computed data in relation to the problems assigned;
• Documentation of results and contribution to publications and conference presentations;
• The candidate should have inclination to collaborate with experimental groups on problems of interest and any other research-related tasks.

Age Limit and Tenure

Age limit is 35 years as on the date of interview. The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped and Female candidates, and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates. Tenure is initially for one (01) year, likely to be extended up to 31.03.2029 (tentatively) based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds; the project is tenable up to 31.03.2029.

1. Interested candidates are requested to send a soft copy of the duly filled up Application Form in the prescribed format, duly TYPED (not hand-written), enclosing soft copies of self-attested copies of each supporting document/certificate/reprint, to the email ID recruitment.cgcri@csir.res.in.
2. Last date of receipt of application via e-mail is 16.08.2026. No application will be entertained after the prescribed date.
3. Candidates should report at least ONE HOUR before the scheduled time of interview for verification of documents. No candidate(s) will be allowed to enter the Institute if arriving after the Reporting Time.
4. Bring the original mark-sheet/certificates/age-caste proof for verification at the time of interview, along with self-attested copies of all documents and project thesis (if any).

Important Instructions

• A separate application is required if applied for more than one position/Advt. No.
• Incomplete applications without the prescribed format and supporting documents will be summarily rejected.
• Candidates presently engaged in any project either in CSIR-CGCRI or any other organization must furnish the NOC from their existing Project Leader.
• Candidates with results awaited will not be eligible.
• Candidates must calculate the percentage from CGPA/DGPA as per the calculation rule of their University/Institute (soft copy of self-attested rule to be attached).
• CSIR-CGCRI reserves the right not to fill up the position(s), or to increase/decrease the number of positions, as per requirement.
