Project Title

“Documenting and Translating the Cultural Heritage of the Lanjia Saora PVTG: Art, Folktales, and Folksongs from Rayagada District, Odisha”

The project is funded under the ICSSR Special Call for Multi-Disciplinary Studies on the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in India – 2025–26.

Vacancies

1. Research Assistant – 01 Post

• Duration: 08 months

• Remuneration: INR 37,000 per month as per ICSSR guidelines

Essential Qualification:

• Ph.D. / M.Phil. / NET / Postgraduate degree in any Social Science discipline

• Minimum 55% marks

Desirable Qualification:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Effective communication skills in the Saora language for interaction with diverse stakeholders

2. Field Investigator – 01 Post

• Duration: 08 months

• Remuneration: INR 20,000 per month as per ICSSR guidelines

Essential Qualification:

• Graduate degree in a Social Science discipline

• Minimum 55% marks

• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and translation in both Saora and Odia

• Willingness to travel extensively for fieldwork, including rural and interior areas

Nature of Work

Selected candidates will contribute to research activities involving:

• Documentation of tribal cultural heritage

• Field-based data collection

• Translation and documentation of folk traditions

• Interaction with local communities and stakeholders

• Research support for the ICSSR-funded project
