Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP), an autonomous institute under the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, invites applications from eligible Indian citizens for recruitment of Scientist 'B' in the scientific cadre. Advertisement No: BSIP/SCI-B/01/2026, dated 07.08.2026.

Vacancy Details

Pay: Level-10 (as per 7th CPC). Age limit: Not exceeding 35 years.

Essential Qualifications

• M.Sc. or recognized equivalent qualification with first division in Biosciences / Geology / Physics / Chemistry or an allied discipline in Earth Science, with 03 years research experience in relevant discipline; OR
• Ph.D. in relevant discipline.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience in Paleontology (Invertebrate/Vertebrate)/Palaeobotany/Palaeogeography/Micropaleontology, Palaeocenography, Ancient DNA/metagenomics, Planetary Geosciences/Astrobiology, Geoarcheology, Archeobotany, Paleoecology/Paleoclimatology, Palynology, Geochemistry, Applied dendrochronology, AI and RS-GIS applications in Palaeosciences, duly supported by publications of high standard, including post-doctoral research experience.

Age Relaxation (crucial date 04.09.2026)

• SC/ST: 5 years; OBC: 3 years; PH: as per Govt. of India rules.
• Candidates in service of DST-funded institutions: up to 5 years.

• No fee for SC/ST/PH/Women candidates and candidates who already applied under Advt. No. BSIP/S&A/02/2023 dated 14.02.2023.
• No other mode of payment acceptable. Fee once paid not refunded.

Selection Process

1. Shortlisting by Screening Committee; only recommended candidates called for personal interview.
2. Selected candidates appointed on probation of two years, governed by New Pension Scheme.
3. No TA/DA for interview.
