BHU IMS Project Staff Recruitment 2026 - ICMR Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Project

The Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (IMS-BHU) invites applications for three purely temporary project positions under the ICMR-sponsored extramural research project "AI-Enabled Platform Integrating Stromal Dynamics to Predict Immunotherapy Response in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer" at the DIAMOnDS Lab, Molecular Biology Building, IMS, BHU, Varanasi. • Posts: Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical), Project Technical Support-III and Project Technical Support-II - one post each
• Emoluments: Rs.67,000 / Rs.28,000 / Rs.20,000 per month + 20% HRA
• Age limit: 40 / 35 / 30 years (relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Women/PwD as per ICMR rules)
• Duration: initially one year, extendable annually up to four years

Project & Department

Project duration is 48 months and the positions are co-terminus with the project. Principal Investigator: Prof. Manoj Pandey, DIAMOnDS Lab, Molecular Biology Building, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi - 221005. The work involves multiplex immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, TSA workflows, primary CAF isolation, 3D tumour spheroid/organotypic co-culture, digital pathology and spatial biology analytics on triple-negative breast cancer clinical samples.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical): Ph.D. in Biotechnology / Molecular Biology / Microbiology / Clinical Genetics or life science from a recognised NIRF top-20 university or institute; minimum three years of documented post-doctoral research experience; minimum two first- or corresponding-author research publications in Q1/Q2 indexed journals. Desirable: patient data or clinical sample handling, multiplex immunofluorescence (mIF), IHC and TSA workflows, primary cell isolation (CAFs), mammalian cell culture, 3D tumour spheroid models, digital pathology / whole-slide scanning / image annotation, qRT-PCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry, biobanking and SOP-driven laboratory management. Upper age limit 40 years.

Project Technical Support-III: Postgraduate degree in Biotechnology / Molecular Biology / Microbiology / Clinical Genetics / Medical Laboratory Technology or life science. Desirable: tissue sectioning, staining and laboratory sample processing, staining optimisation, antibody validation, mIF/TSA workflows, cancer cell lines and CAF culture, 3D spheroid and functional cellular assays, laboratory records and SOP compliance. Upper age limit 35 years.

Project Technical Support-II: B.Sc. MLT with two years experience, or B.Sc. with three years experience in a recognised laboratory after the degree, or M.Sc. MLT, or M.Sc. in a biological science subject with relevant experience. Desirable: basic laboratory sample handling and preparation, reagent handling and routine equipment operation, inventory and record maintenance, sample logistics and SOP compliance. Upper age limit 30 years.

Emoluments

Rs.67,000 per month + 20% HRA (PRS-II); Rs.28,000 per month + 20% HRA (PTS-III); Rs.20,000 per month + 20% HRA (PTS-II). A 5% increment on the initial emoluments is admissible after completion of every two years, subject to performance review. Provident Fund, CCA, LTC and medical claims are not admissible.

Important Instructions

• The post is purely temporary, contractual and co-terminus with the project; appointment is terminable with one month's notice on either side.
• Selected candidates will have no claim for regular appointment or absorption under BHU, ICMR, DHR or the Government of India.
• Candidates currently employed in government, autonomous or private institutions must produce a "No Objection Certificate" at the time of interview.
