BCPL is India's first Pharmaceutical & Chemical Company, founded by Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray on 12th April 1901. With factories at Maniktala (Kolkata), Panihati, Mumbai and Kanpur, and Registered Office at 6, Ganesh Chunder Avenue, Kolkata. BCPL is a Schedule-C CPSE under the administrative control of the Department of Pharmaceuticals with 100% Government of India shareholding. The Company manufactures Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals and renowned disinfectants/FMCG products. Turned profitable since FY 2016-17 with Positive Net Worth.

Job Description & Responsibilities

The Managing Director is the Chief of the Organization, accountable to the Board of Directors and Government/Shareholders. Responsible for efficient functioning of the Organization for achieving corporate objectives and performance parameters.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Age (on Date of Vacancy - Date of Advertisement)

• Age of superannuation: 60 years
• Minimum 2 years residual service (CPSE/Group A) or 3 years (others) w.r.t. date of superannuation

2. Employment Status (must be in regular capacity, not contractual/ad-hoc)

• (a) Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) including full-time functional Directors
• (b) Central Government Group 'A' Officers (including Armed Forces, All India Services, Public Sector Banks/Financial Institutions/Autonomous Bodies)
• (c) State Public Sector Enterprise (SPSE) with annual turnover Rs. 500 crore or more
• (d) Private Sector company with annual turnover Rs. 500 crore or more

3. Qualification

• Graduate / Chartered Accountant / Cost Accountant / Post Graduate / Graduate with MBA / PGDIM from a leading institute
• Degree in Chemistry / Biology / Pharmaceuticals is desirable

4. Experience

• Minimum 05 years cumulative experience/exposure during last 10 years in Finance / Business Development / Production / Operations / Marketing / Project Management in an Organization of repute
• Experience in Drug and Pharmaceuticals Industry is desirable

5. Pay Scale & Service Requirement

Eligible Scales (CPSE): Rs. 100000-260000 (IDA post 2017) / Rs. 123100-215900 (Level 13 CDA) / Rs. 37400-67000 + GP 8700 (CDA) / Rs. 43200-66000 (IDA post 2007) / Rs. 18500-23900 (IDA post 1997) / Rs. 8520-10050 (IDA post 1992) / Rs. 6250-7475 (IDA pre 1992)

Minimum service in eligible scale: 1 year for internal CPSE candidates, 2 years for others

Central Govt Group A: Should hold post of Director level or equivalent scale on substantive basis

PSB/FI: Board level for 1 year

Armed Forces: Brigadier or equivalent rank

SPSE/Private Sector: Minimum 15 years at Managerial level

6. Duration of Appointment

5 years from date of joining OR upto date of superannuation OR until further orders, whichever is earlier.
