Begusarai PDS Fair Price Shop Allotment 2026: 73 Ration Shop Licences for Begusarai Subdivision

The District Supply Office, Begusarai, has invited applications for allotment of 73 Public Distribution System (PDS) fair price shop licences in Begusarai subdivision. Advertisement No. 02/2026, issued by the District Magistrate, Begusarai.

This is a licence allotment, not a salaried appointment. The successful applicant is granted the right to run a fair price shop and to distribute ration to card holders of the shop's catchment area, earning the dealer's margin prescribed under the Bihar Targeted PDS (Control) Order. There is no pay scale, no government post and no service benefits; the shop is run by the licensee at his or her own risk.

Break-up of the 73 shops: Unreserved 47 (47 male / 16 female), Scheduled Tribe 04 (04/01), Backward Class 15 (15/05), Economically Weaker Section 07 (07/02). Included in the total are 24 shops reserved for women under the 35% horizontal reservation, 3 reserved for divyang candidates (mute/deaf 1, locomotor 1, intellectual 1) and 1 for dependants of freedom fighters (grandsons, granddaughters and maternal grandchildren).

Preference in issuing the licence: (i) Self Help Groups, (ii) women's cooperative societies, (iii) ex-servicemen's cooperative societies, (iv) educated unemployed persons, (v) residents of the concerned panchayat or ward. Selection against unreserved vacancies is on merit only.

Application window: 02.11.2026 to 30.11.2026, 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM, by registered post only, at the office of the Sub-divisional Officer, Begusarai. Applications received after the last date will not be considered. Forms (Schedule 1 for individuals, Schedule 2 for SHGs and cooperative societies) are available on the district website begusarai.bih.nic.in, where the panchayat-wise and ward-wise reservation-wise vacancy list is also published.

Submitting more than one application for the same panchayat or ward results in cancellation of all that applicant's forms.

Documents to attach: three recent colour passport photographs (one attested, pasted at the marked place); mobile number written below the signature; panchayat/ward number and reservation category at the top of the form; self-attested copies of all educational certificates and mark sheets plus the computer knowledge certificate; caste certificate (reserved categories) and residence certificate from the Circle Officer; character certificate, or an affidavit on conduct issued at the level of Executive Magistrate, not older than six months; details of the storage and distribution premises.

Affidavit: the applicant must swear before the Executive Magistrate that no fair price shop is already allotted to the joint family, that he/she is not a sitting elected representative, that neither the applicant nor any family member owns a flour mill, that no office of profit under the government is held, and that all information furnished is true.

Selection process: after scrutiny, the Licensing Officer records a vacancy-wise merit rank and sends a provisional merit list through the District Supply Officer to the district-level selection committee. The provisional list is published on the notice boards of the District Supply Officer and the Sub-divisional Officer, Begusarai, with 45 days allowed for claims and objections. The final merit list is published after disposal of every claim, with brief reasons recorded. An aggrieved applicant may appeal to the Divisional Commissioner within 45 days; appeals are disposed of within 30 days and the Commissioner's order is final.
