How to Prepare for the AP DSC Exam
- Start with the three common sections — GK and Current Affairs, Perspectives in Education and Educational Psychology appear in every post; one round of preparation pays off across posts.
- Give most of your time to Content and Methodology — together they carry 60 of 80 marks for SGT, School Assistant and TGT, and 70 of 100 for PGT; plan your timetable in that proportion.
- Treat Methodology as a separate, scoring section — the same themes repeat across subjects; make one set of notes per theme and add subject examples.
- Match your reading level to your post — SGT content is Class III to VIII (difficulty up to Class X), School Assistant and TGT content is Class VI to Intermediate, and PGT content is degree level.
- Read the prescribed texts if you are a School Assistant (English) candidate — the syllabus names specific poems, prose pieces, novels, plays and short stories.
- Practise with mock tests and previous year papers — there is no negative marking, so attempt every question in a mock test and use the results to revisit weak topics each week.
30-Day Study Plan (Indicative)
- Days 1–8 — Common sections: complete Perspectives in Education (all five sub-parts) and Educational Psychology notes.
- Days 9–16 — Content: cover the subject content for your post at the prescribed reading level.
- Days 17–24 — Methodology: prepare per-theme methodology notes with subject examples; begin daily GK and current affairs.
- Days 25–30 — Mocks and revision: full-length mock tests, prescribed-text revision (if applicable), and weekly weak-topic review.
