AMU Assistant Professor (Chinese) – Contractual Recruitment 2026

Office of the Dean, Faculty of International Studies, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh invites online applications from Indian Nationals (including OCI cardholders) for temporary appointment of Assistant Professor (Contractual) reserved under VH-category (PwD) in the Department of Foreign Languages. Local Advertisement No. 04/2026 dated 03-08-2026. The appointment is purely temporary till the end of Academic Session 2026-27 or till the General Selection Committee is held, whichever is earlier.

Vacancy Details

Essential Qualifications (Eligibility A or B)

Eligibility A:

• Master's Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the concerned subject (Chinese) from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited Foreign University.
• Cleared National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR or similar test accredited by UGC like SLET/SET, OR awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for award of M.Phil./Ph.D.) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 (Ph.D. holders exempted from NET/SLET/SET).
• Candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to 11-07-2009 are governed by then existing regulations (regular mode Ph.D., evaluated by at least two external examiners, open viva-voce, at least two research papers with one in a refereed journal, and at least two papers presented in UGC/ICSSR/CSIR sponsored seminars) — to be certified by the Registrar/Controller of Examinations.

Eligibility B: Ph.D. obtained from a foreign University/Institution ranked among the top 500 in World University Rankings (QS / THE / ARWU-Shanghai).

Note: A relaxation of 5% is allowed at Bachelor's and Master's level for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Differently-abled candidates.

Application Fee

Rs. 500/- (non-refundable) per application form, payable online only. PwD candidates are exempted from payment of the processing fee on uploading an authentic Disability Certificate on the prescribed proforma.

How to Apply

1. Fill the application form only in online mode at careers.amuonline.ac.in (AMU Careers Portal).
2. Last date for filling the ONLINE application form: 09-08-2026 till midnight.
3. After online submission, send/submit the printed application with self-attested documents, mentioning mobile number, to the Office of the Chairman, Department of Foreign Languages, Faculty of International Studies, AMU, Aligarh on or before 16-08-2026 till 16:00 hrs.
4. PwD candidates must upload the Disability Certificate on the prescribed Proforma (Appendix-I available on the Careers Portal), issued by the Competent Authority.

Interview

Interview for the above post will be held on 22-08-2026 from 10:30 a.m. onwards in the Chamber of the Dean, Faculty of International Studies at B-5, Shibli Road, AMU Aligarh. No separate intimation letter will be sent; list of eligible candidates will be displayed on the Department's webpage. No TA/DA will be paid to the candidates called for interview.
