CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CMERI), under Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), invites online applications for the post of Technician (1) [Group-II] at Durgapur (West Bengal) and Extension Centre at Ludhiana (Punjab).
Established in 1958, CSIR-CMERI is a premier Institute under CSIR, involved in multidisciplinary R&D programmes across scientific disciplines for economic, environmental and societal benefits. As the only national laboratory dedicated to mechanical engineering, its core mission is to conduct research and develop cost effective and value added technologies in mechanical engineering and allied domains.

SSC/10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects, minimum 55% marks, and ITI certificate or national/state trade certificate in Foundryman from a recognized institution. Or SSC/10th with 55% marks + 2 years full-time apprentice trainee experience. Or SSC/10th with 55% marks + 3 years work experience in a Ministry/Department/Organization/PSU/Autonomous Body under Government of India/State/UT.
Knowledge of foundry processes including moulding, casting and core making; Ability to interpret basic drawings and specifications for casting requirements; Familiarity with melting, pouring, and solidification processes of metals; Knowledge of moulding materials, sand preparation, and pattern handling; Ability to identify casting defects and take corrective actions; Basic knowledge of heat treatment and finishing processes of cast components; Understanding of safety practices in foundry operations; Team work ability; Ability to perform physically demanding work in workshop conditions.
