General Terms

• Nature: Regular appointment under CSIR (not contractual)
• Pay: Level-2 (₹19,900-₹63,200) per 7th CPC; Total emoluments approximately ₹39,000/month (Basic + DA + HRA + TA)
• Upper Age Limit: 28 years as on 03.08.2026 (relaxations: SC/ST 5 years, OBC-NCL 3 years, PwBD 10 years, ESM 3 years after military service deduction)
• Probation: 1 year from date of joining (extendable/curtailed at discretion of Appointing Authority)

Selection Process

• Screening: Applications screened by Screening Committee for shortlisting
• Trade Test: Qualifying in nature (relevant trade); syllabus to be notified on website
• Competitive Written Examination: OMR/CBT based, objective type, bilingual (English/Hindi except English language questions)

Written Examination Pattern

• Paper-I (1 hour): Mental Ability Test — 50 questions, 100 marks (2 marks each), No negative marking
• Paper-II (30 minutes): General Awareness (25 Q, 75 marks) + English Language (25 Q, 75 marks); 1 negative mark per wrong answer
• Paper-III (1 hour): Concerned Subject — 50 questions, 150 marks (3 marks each); 1 negative mark per wrong answer
• Paper-II and III evaluated only for candidates qualifying Paper-I threshold
• Final merit based on Paper-II and Paper-III marks only

Essential Qualification

SSC/10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects, minimum 55% marks, and ITI certificate or national/state trade certificate in Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning from a recognized institution. Or SSC/10th with 55% marks + 2 years full-time apprentice trainee experience. Or SSC/10th with 55% marks + 3 years work experience in a Ministry/Department/Organization/PSU/Autonomous Body under Government of India/State/UT.

Desirable Experience

Knowledge of refrigeration cycles, air-conditioning systems and HVAC fundamentals; Ability to install, operate and maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems; Familiarity with compressors, condensers, evaporators and control components; Ability to read and interpret system layouts, piping diagrams and schematics; Knowledge of refrigerants, charging procedures and leak detection methods; Understanding of electrical components associated with HVAC systems; Ability to troubleshoot system faults and carry out preventive maintenance; Basic knowledge of computer systems and control interfaces; Team work ability; Ability to perform work in workshop and field conditions.
