Selection / Admission Process
GATE does not have multiple selection stages like a typical recruitment exam. The score is used as the primary qualifying criterion for two broad pathways:
- Postgraduate Admissions: Candidates apply to institutes (IITs, NITs, IIITs, IISc, and other universities) through centralized counselling such as CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan admission) or institute-specific portals. - Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture, and candidates in the final or pre-final year of such programmes are eligible.
