Selection for Clerk depends on the Prelims score for shortlisting and the Single Online score for merit. For PO and Specialist Officers, IBPS shortlists candidates for interview after the Mains, and the final merit combines Mains and Interview scores. Proficiency in the local language is required unless the candidate has already passed it at Class X or XII level. Negative marking applies for wrong answers in all stages.
Important exam day instructions
- Carry two printouts of the call letter.
- Carry an original photo ID and one photocopy.

- No electronic gadgets, notes or written material inside the hall.
- Cooperate fully with the invigilators during biometric verification.
What to do if the IBPS RRB admit card is not yet released
IBPS activates the RRB call letter only two to three weeks before each exam. If the link is not visible yet on ibps.in, keep refreshing the CRP RRBs XVI page and note the dates from the exam city slip once released. Do not depend on unofficial sources or third-party downloads.
Save your Registration Number and password carefully, because both are needed for the login. If the page says the link is not yet open, try again after a short while. During the first hours after release, thousands of candidates log in at once, so the portal may feel slow. Retry after a few minutes and use a separate browser if necessary.
If you encounter issues such as a wrong date of birth, blurred photograph or a missing centre address, contact IBPS through the helpdesk mentioned in the notification before the exam day, not on the exam day itself.
FAQs about IBPS RRB admit card
Q: Is the RRB admit card different for Prelims, Mains and interview?
A: Yes. Separate call letters are issued for each stage — the Prelims call letter, the Single Online / Mains call letter (for Clerk / PO/SO), and the interview call letter (for PO and SO). All are downloaded from the same IBPS candidate login.
Q: The Clerk post has a "Single Online" exam. Does that mean a different admit card?
A: For Clerk, after Prelims IBPS conducts a single online paper called the Mains. Its call letter is released separately under the login.
Q: My application mentions Hindi but my preferred medium is English. Does that affect the exam?
A: RRB exams are bilingual, so you can choose Hindi or English during the exam. The medium chosen during exam does not influence the call letter.
Q: What if I lose my Registration Number / password?
A: Use the "Forgot Registration Number / Password" link on the IBPS login page. You can recover them using the registered e-mail ID and mobile number.
Q: I have secured a good rank in Prelims. Will the call letter for Mains be delayed for me individually?
A: No. IBPS releases the call letter for all shortlisted Clerk candidates together, around 2–3 weeks before the Single Online exam.
Q: Is the interview for RRB mandatory for all posts?
A: No. The interview is applicable only for PO (Officer Scale I) and Specialist Officer (Scale II, III) posts, not for Clerk.
